The Day The Mountains Trembled

The Lord stepped His gentle foot on the earth
Knowing full well the task that laid ahead.
God and human-like, entering this world by birth,
Laying in a stable on a straw mattress bed.
Did anyone imagine Him one day rising from the dead?

Raised by a carpenter like his very own son,
This story was only beginning--there is much more.
Later on, His life-changing ministry had begun.
He spoke words that no one around could ignore.
Did anyone imagine what His life had in store?

Miracles were seen and heard during His outreach.
Some were in awe of His presence so mild and kind;
Others were captivated by the way He would preach.
With the goal to restore sight to the spiritually blind,
Did they really believe He was here to save mankind?

Then the time came that He was to die on the cross--
A terrible death that would make anyone's skin crawl.
Appearing to be the end, a final and eternal loss.
Was this the last chapter buried behind a stone wall?
Did anyone really think that He would again stand tall?

Three days past. Sure enough the tomb was empty.
Before too long this word of hope had spread.
He conquered the grave; to death He holds the key.
Forgiveness is ours because His blood was shed.
And like He said, He did it, He rose from the dead!

Cross

Filled with many protruding slivers,
Frightening is the pain it delivers.
Iron spikes driven to hold a man,
Affliction is the number one plan.
An awful instrument of death,
It takes away life and breath.
Slowly carrying the spirit away,
Horrendous defines this display.
Picturing this being put to use
Paints images of evil not truce.
The thought brings fear to mind,
Clear visions of a hideous kind.

A holy man experienced this pain.
The time came when he was slain.
God allowed such things to be done
Knowing a battle would be won.
His closest friends questioned why;
They never wanted to say good-bye.
This man knew the true commission.
He was guided by God's ambition.
Restoring a relationship once lost,
A kinship we once had and tossed.
Death of a blameless was the price,
Paid for only once, not twice.
A sacrificial gift for you and me,
So we can live with Him eternally.

How Could I Forget

You have preserved my life and made me whole
You have repaired my heart and restored my soul
How could I forget the laws You've etched in me
There to remember, protecting me till eternity
Your divine chisel inscribed them on my heart
They've always been there, right from the start
Preserving my life, giving me a holy protection
Done out of your love and everlasting affection
You're always there though every life endeavor
These things I will remember now and forever

On The Same Rock

Sometimes we Christians forget the place in which we stand--
It's on the mighty Rock of Jesus Christ and not shifting sand.
Perhaps we do remember that He is our Savior and Lord;
We must also not forget that others are loved and adored.
Our brothers and sisters in Christ stand on that same Rock;
Yet we resist each other and put up our own road block.
Saying, “We are going to do it our way. You just do it yours,”
Forgetting we all have the same goal just different chores.

There is only one Christ, only one Rock we all are fixed to.
He is the Head, the one greatest leader, this much IS true.
He works for us all. Now we must come together as one,
Break down our barriers and finish the work left undone.
Standing firm on the same Rock, united in His perfect love,
We can touch the world with the sweet grace we know of.
Collectively, the ultimate goal can certainly be achieved,
Just share that same love that we all have richly received.

Light Within The Darkness

Darkness seems to be unavoidable in our life.
Our days are filled with obstacles and strife.
No matter the depth of the casting shadow,
There is always a light that appears to glow.

With our path much like a dreary tunnel,
Squeezing our daily tasks through a funnel.
We forget about the light coming ahead,
Grossly blanking out the words God said.

He is the Light unto my path every day.
This is a word the Lord loves to convey.
He'll never fail and forever be at your side;
He'll take your hand and always be your guide.

No matter how long or dark times get to be,
Always keep alert for Him, soon you'll be free.
You are never beyond the reach of His grace,
And He longs for you and Him to embrace.

Another Year By

As the years of life swiftly pass us by
Many things happen and we wonder why
Why the struggle and why the pain
Have our days passed us by in vain

Standing today another year has passed
How the moments of life go by so fast
We have shared anger, peace and joy
Did time fly too fast for us to enjoy

As I think of the years from long ago
Darkness is apparent, but there is a glow
A vision of the greatness to come
A light to which the darkness succumbs

Seeing that our path will be brightly lit
We march through trials, we will not quit
Focusing our eyes on the brilliant light
We are ready for life's remaining fight

Born in Bethlehem

Throughout history time passes,
There was a point where a Caesar counted the masses.
Everyone who inhabited the land--
All had to be counted. They followed Caesar's command.
Joseph and Mary were two that came--
Two regular people without much fortune or fame;
They were engaged and carrying a son.
In the city of David, Mary gave birth; a new life had begun.
Wrapped up in a manger He laid,
There was no room at the inn, no matter how much they paid.

During this time shepherds were out,
Angels appeared to them to tell what this night was about.
The news brought was of great joy.
They told of a Savior being born in Bethlehem--a baby boy.
Then a multitude of angels appeared.
They sang about God's glory and peace, then disappeared.
After they saw this with their eyes,
They journeyed to bring the message from the angels in the skies.
Their voyage was swift and fast;
They found the new family before much time had passed.
And there--the baby in the manger.
They told about the statement from the heavenly stranger.
Mary treasured the things said.
While others questioned, she held them in her heart instead.
Soon the shepherds left giving God praise.
They were filled with God's glory and their hearts set ablaze.
The babe is Jesus, the Son--
Right hand of God, who was and is and He IS going to come.
